Work at Height

In 2019/20, 29 fatal injuries to workers were due to falls from a height, accounting for around a quarter of all worker deaths over the year, a similar proportion to the latest five years combined.

“Employers and those in control of any work at height activity must make sure work is properly planned, supervised, and carried out by competent people. This includes using the right type of equipment for working at height”.

“You should make sure that people with sufficient skills, knowledge, and experience are employed to perform the task”.

– HSE Working at Height. A brief guide

Rope access provides a safe method of working at height where ropes and associated equipment are used to access to places of work.

The advantages of using rope access methods lies in the safety and speed with which workers can get to or from difficult locations, minimising any impact on other operations and the environment. With over 55 years’ experience in rope access, you can rely on us to do things the right way, safely, first time.

Our teams are IRATA qualified with each team having a dedicated Level 3 supervisor trained in emergency first aid.

We take the planning and control of work seriously. Each shift starts with a team Toolbox Talk led by the onsite supervisor. This allows the team to understand the Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Emergency Rescue Plan, and roles and responsibilities within the team. Our personnel are encouraged to ask questions and actively suggest ways of improving the safety and efficiency of the project.

Sometimes the situation changes. Our team members are expected to continually assess risks and stop the job to re-evaluate and put in place additional control measures to allow the work to continue safely.

All Skyrope projects use a Safe System of Work (SSOW) and we cultivate a mindset of safety and excellence with all our staff.

Our safety record is second to none and has allowed us to work on some of the most prestigious iconic buildings in the UK and undertake projects safely in extremely hazardous environments.

We would be delighted to work with you to assist with your next project.
